During the past 20 + years we have collected random dinosaur action figures for our design studio. This all started in 1988 when John moved from Illinois to San Diego to launch McCulley Design Group.

Dino the T-Rex was John’s sidekick during his drive to San Diego and John and Dino had many, unrecorded, conversations about the elegance of mobility and adaptability within environments that can change without our permission (yes…weird but true). Dino knew from intimate experience the consequences of growing large for the sake of growing large, and the ultimate penalty of not being able to adapt.  Dino is also a reminder that just because you are big does not mean that you are innovative or creative.  You are just big…slow to move…good at hanging around other big things.

This philosophy has kept us grounded over two decades of guiding McCulley Design Lab and provided a dynamic studio environment enabling us to work with progressive thinkers from a broad range of industries.  As a result, we have been fortunate to create some of the most innovative designs, make wonderful friends and have fun while we’re at it.
